Dill (Charles Baker Harris)
Dill is the nephew of Miss Rachel, neighbor to the Finchs, and comes down every summer to stay with her. He's a very small kid for his age and tells a lot of tall tales and lies. But he has a good heart and sees that how Tom Robinson is treated in the trial was wrong. In the future, he says, Scout and him will get married.
Outside of the courthouse Dill suggests to Scout and Jem that they go in to observe the trial. Because of how crowded it is inside, Reverend Sykes offers them a seat next to him in the balcony, where all the black people sit. The whites sit on the first level. This is an example of the racial prejudices that go on, even in the courthouse, where everyone should be equal at the least.
